About Silly Goose & LANArts
-
With over a decade of experience working in the literary non-profit sector, Lesley Fletcher and Nic Brewer work together to form LANArts, a consulting group that works with collectives, organizations, businesses, and individuals in the arts and culture sector to support grant-writing, systems administration, communications, strategic planning, governance, and more.
-
With more than a decade of experience, Lesley Fletcher works with LANArts and Silly Goose Consulting to support non-profit organizations in finding and submitting to grants that will support their projects and operations, as well as incorporating as a non-profit.
-
Working with Silly Goose Consulting for strategic planning will be quick, effective, meaningful, and maybe even a delight: we know you’re already doing all the hardest work, and we want to work with you to chart out your next few years.
-
With an eye for both the macro and the micro, our Silly Geese excel in project management and administration. All the little things you might hate about keeping projects on track? We love them. Hand over those details and let us take care of it!
-
As readers and writers themselves, Lesley and Nic love to work with writers in the early stages of creation, beta-reading, editing, and pitching fiction and YA stories and manuscripts.
Meet the silly geese
We are a power duo with even more powerful friends: working with Silly Goose Consulting means you’re working with Lesley and Nic, but it also means we’re tapping in some of the smartest, most talented people working in Canadian non-profit.
-
Nic is an information and administrative professional with nearly a decade of experience in the arts and culture sector supporting poets, readers, and literary organizers as they have come up with new and creative ways to enrich Canada’s literary culture. Her love of reading, her passion for writing, and her expertise in information management, systems design, and communication to help non-profits expand, programming give her a unique approach to improving efficiency, impact, and wellbeing in Canadian arts and culture.
-
Lesley Fletcher has been working with literary non-profits and charities for over 13 years. She spent ten years as the Executive Director of the League of Canadian Poets, where she worked with an amazing team to grow the League’s impact, financial stability, and service level. Lesley has a passion for fundraising, project management, and creating collaborative events and programs. When she isn’t at work, you can find her playing with her children, walking her dog, reading, baking, taking classes, and occasionally being overcome by exhaustion.

For writers
Beta-reading: We love reading new work. We love hearing what a writer wants from their earliest readers, we love making notes in the margins and diving into the earliest stages of your precious stories. Working with me as a beta-reader gets you notes on character, plot, style, pacing, and any other big questions you may have on your story or manuscript.
Short stories: $50-250
Manuscripts: $300-1,000
